Hello
First of all, congratulations for your web site and forgive me to write in English, but I write from Valencia (Spain) and can’t speak Dutch.
Well I ride everyday a opa fiets recently converted in transportfiets with a front baggagedrager. I control the back pedal brake really well and I’m able to press it softly and, consequently, I can break in a pleasant soft progression. But, since a week, I feel that it blocks suddently, giving no soft deceleration, and it makes a hard striking metallic noise (klang!!)when I stop pressing the pedal…
Please, do anybody know something about this problem?
Thanks.
Asier de Benito
More info from Asier:
I found that the stricking noise came from the chain:
it’s a bit loosened and, when I brake, it became into tension, but if I
stop braking, it loose temsion again and strike against the chainguard
(clank!!). The braking problem persist.
Thanks.
Check for play on the rear axle. Not the nuts holdin the wheel in the frame but the assembly inside the hub. Possibly the brake arm on the left (non drive side) has come loose, if that’s the case hammer it back in position and re-check the play on the axle.
What type/make is your rear hub?
Hello, I can read “HISTOP” on the brake arm, and some logo like “IIKT” inside a small circle. Yes, I can see that it’s a bit loosen. I will fit it harder again. I will write then.
Thanks
